What are the different styles of Fencing?

With such a variety of fence styles to choose from, it can be a difficult decision to know which one is best suited to your project. Should you go more decorative? Or maybe something more solid and robust if the fence is to be installed in an area prone to high winds?

Weather is an important element to factor into choosing your fence panels, along with privacy and if you have any pets you don't want escaping! Take a look at the selection of choices below and see which one is right for you.

Solid fence panels

Solid panels are one of the most sought after types of garden fence which provide customers with a high level of privacy due to no visible gaps between the slats or panels. They also provide better security against any intruders and can also help with noise reduction.

Featherboard fence panels

Featherboard fence panels, often called feather edge and sometimes closeboard, are thicker at one end and taper off at the other, creating a feather-like appearance. Thet are vertical overlapping timber boards which have a neat looking appearance and suitable for people with a medium budget. The panels are placed next to one another so this style of fence falls into the solid panel category.

Tongue & Groove fence panels

Tongue and Groove fence panels are the perfect weatherproof, and reliable product for fencing your garden and outdoor space, due to the strong interlocking system of each board. They are perfect for providing your gardens with boundaries or sectioning off spaces of the garden where privacy and restricted access is required.

Hit-and-Miss fences

Hit-and-Miss fences can come in vertical or horizontal panels, or built to a bespoke design by our installers. The hit-and-miss style are built on alternating sides of vertical posts. The design means there are gaps between the boards which allow wind to pass through – making them perfect for windier areas.

Trellis / Lattice fences

This type of fencing is decorative that involves using lattice panels to build an open partition, which sometimes contain climbing plants. Lattice fencing is fixed to the top of another solid-panelled design, allowing light to pass through the top portion of the fence whilst creating that bit of character.
